2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Gilfillan Vineyard
From the Winemaker
"For me, this wine defines that 'power through elegance' that we strive for at Lambert Bridge." -Jennifer Higgins
As our members know, the Gilfillan Vineyard is a very special part of Lambert Bridge. It is in the Moon Mountain District, which is, according to our winemaker Jennifer Higgins, "probably the most exciting site for Bordeaux varieties in Sonoma County."
The Gilfillan Cabernet fills the glass with a rich cherry aroma. There are sweet baking spices here too, along with violets and a complex, delicate hint of sagebrush. On the palate, the wine has concentrated layers of cassis and blackberry. There is a marvelous cocoa component that Jen attributes to the red volcanic soil found on the property. The tannins are super fine, and destined to become even more silky over time. They are also held in perfect balance with the wine's acid, ensuring that this Cabernet will age well over at least the next 15 years.
